Cotton fabrics are fabrics made of natural fibers from the cotton plant.
Cotton is a very breathable and fresh fabric, it is indicated for a multitude of uses, such as shirts, T-shirts, pants, tablecloths, decoration, etc.
Natural fiber of plant origin, which comes from the stem of the flax plant. It is believed to be the oldest cloth used by mankind. It is a very resistant fabric to abrasion. Although it tends to wrinkle, it is a very pleasant fiber for the summer due to being a good conductor of heat. It is advisable to wash linen whenever possible dry to avoid shrinkage and poor treatment of the fabric. It is a fabric widely used in summer, due to its freshness and good perspiration and gives rise to the phrase “wrinkles are beautiful.”
Natural fiber of animal origin, which is obtained through worms known as silkworms. Its main properties are that it maintains heat in winter and is cool in summer, it stains easily and sticks to the body. Water can streak and discolor if you get too much sun exposure. It has a certain shine and is usually present in very fine fabrics with very delicate maintenance. When weaving, all kinds of fabrics are produced such as chiffon, crepe, taffeta, dupion, etc.
Wool is one of the oldest woven natural fibers. It is obtained from sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas and other animals. Its ability to maintain body heat is the most appreciated property; also its softness, resistance, elasticity, great ability to absorb moisture (hydroscopy) and flexibility. All these properties depend on the breed and living conditions of the animal from which the woven fiber comes. Among the infinity of types of wool, we highlight: merino, cashmere, angora and mohair. It is used to make clothing and outerwear, accessories such as shawls, scarves, socks, hats and other crafts. Also in home making, as in the case of blankets and bedspreads.
Leatherette is an artificial material based on plastics, usually composed of different superimposed layers and a tinted finish. In many cases it gets confused with the genuine leather it imitates; usually leather. It is the great alternative to natural leather because it is more economical, avoids contamination derived from tanning and dyeing and resolving important conflicts regarding the ethical treatment of animals.
Synthetic fiber widely used in the textile industry due to its low cost. It is very resistant and easy to find with other combined materials such as cotton, wool … It easily allows sublimation printing. It is a material that does not warp / wrinkle and is easy to iron and maintain.
Synthetic fiber widely used in the textile industry known for its great elasticity and resistance. The ability to stretch up to four times its length and to recover to its initial state when tension is removed. We can find it in fabrics or garments mixed with other synthetic or natural materials, this allows the garment to be elastic and fitted. It is also known as spandex, or lycra. It was invented in 1958 by Joseph Shivers who was a chemist working at the Dupont company, and he patented it under the trade name Lycra.
Synthetic fiber widely used in the textile industry known for being a very light material, its high resistance and ability to be molded by the action of high temperatures. Another characteristic is the low absorption of liquids allowing it not to penetrate the layer. And easy to dry. We can find it in garments or accessories that seek waterproofing. It is easy to wash and maintain and can be machine washed without problem. As a curiosity, many times it has been said that its name comes from the combination of names of the cities New York and London, New York – London.
